A Film by Alberto Pablo & Maura Abad
A short film about love, secrets and the past that reconnects us
MAURA ABAD'S CREATIVE TRACK RECORD

You can build a new life.
But can you really leave the old one behind?
Ana comes to the Ecuadorian coast for a fresh start.
A new place. A new life. No explanations.
Then she meets Leo.
With him, she finds something even high achievers struggle to create: the freedom to stop performing, let her guard down and be fully herself.
Or almost fully.
Because the closer they get, the harder it becomes to keep the past where Ana thinks it belongs.
And one truth could change everything.
How much of yourself are you willing to reveal to be truly known?
You've built a life you're proud of. Now you want deeper love, connection and meaning.
You value honesty, but you know being fully known can feel risky.
You enjoy films that make you question your choices, relationships and the life you're building.
3 uncomfortable truths about success, intimacy and the past that follows us into love
You can build the career, the life and the future you wanted, and still struggle to let someone see the parts of you you’d rather keep hidden.
Changing your life can change who you become. But what you leave behind can still affect the relationships you’re building today.
It’s easy to feel loved when someone knows the version of you that you choose to show. The real test begins when they discover the rest.
A personal note from Maura
I love what happens before a film is a film.
Sometimes it starts with a conversation. Someone has an idea, we start talking about it, and suddenly I'm thinking about locations, people, production and how we're actually going to make it happen.
That's a big part of why I enjoy producing.
DE CABEZA is my fourth film and my first in Spanish. We filmed it in Ecuador, a country I love and where I want to keep investing in film.
And I'm not done.
There are people I'd like to meet, ideas I'd like to hear and projects I'd love to help bring to the screen.
If DE CABEZA makes you think about your own life, your relationships, or a conversation you've been avoiding, then this film did what I hoped it would do.

"From Out There” by Maura Abad is a deeply symbolic and powerful video. The journey to the Moon becomes a journey within—toward silence, peace, courage, and self-discovery. I loved its message: when your mind tells you to stop, keep going; when you feel lost, return to yourself. Beautiful, inspiring, and truly moving."

"Reading Maura's poems is a journey of deep introspection. Each conveys a distinct message, fusing reality with genuine emotion. I admire her authenticity and am confident this is the beginning of something exceptional. Voices like Maura's allow us to truly experience the power of poetry."

"Maura's poems are a reflection of her struggles and thoughts. She writes from the heart and is as authentic as any author. Her persistence is present in every word you read, and nothing will stop her."

"I really love dogs too; as the song says, they are angels in our lives. The film is moving, sensitive, tender, and reflects the deep relationship we build with our canine children. I congratulate Maura for conveying so many lessons and feelings, generating emotions that make us more human and allow us to rediscover the true meaning of love for our loved ones, both human and canine."
